While we have been aware of Incense Cedar for many years, having enjoyed it's scent in boxes and closets and spas, we did not create name tags with Incense Cedar until August 2009. What a pleasant surprise. Incense Cedar is rich looking, engraves and color fills well, and holds detail well.
A reason to specify this wood for your name tags would be because you want strong character...you want knots...you want color variation. We will attempt to engrave so that critical information is not disrupted by the character of the wood. An example of what I mean can be seen in the bottom name tag. See the big knot above the "m" in "Jim". We would consider that an acceptable engraving. If the knot was down between the legs of the "m" we would not consider it acceptable and would re-engrave.
In the 2nd image below, the second name tag down, the word "Incense" has a loop of color running through it. We would consider this an acceptable engraving.
I've been frequently wearing my Incense Cedar wood name tags and am pleased that people are noticing and commenting.
