Bamboo Name Tags, natural color:
New to us in late 2008, we are pleased to be able to now offer our customers Natural Bamboo Name Tags. This bamboo is farm raised, strong, and green.
The bamboo that we use is shipped to us in sheets 2mm thick. The sheets are made up of many pieces (about 5/8" wide) of bamboo that have been glued together edge to edge into a strong veneer. We cut this polyurethane coated veneer into strips and make our name tags from these strips.
The natural bamboo has a relatively course grain and an inconsistant contrast. As we engrave we encounter bamboo nodules. If one of those nodules falls into a name we will re-engrave the name tag (you'll never see it). However if the nodule is not part of a name we may leave it in the name tag. Enjoy and appreciate these nodules...they are part of the character of the bamboo.
The concept of a Natural Bamboo Name Tag is appealing but what we have found in actual practice is that the Natural Bamboo does not make very good name tags. We have zero customers re-ordering natural bamboo nametags on an ongoing basis.
