THE WOODS THAT WE WORK WITH

I Google'd "How many kinds of trees are there?" and was surprised to learn that there are close to 10,000 species. Of these 10,000 species, 500 are softwoods. Hardwoods make up about 2/3 of the volume of all trees.  We also make name tags from grass...otherwise known as Bamboo!

At WoodenNameTags.com we most commonly work with just 12 species of wood (Mahogany, Beech, Cherry, AlderIncense Cedar, Maple, Red OakWhite OakLyptusBamboo, and Walnut) but have worked with others. We prefer to work with wood that we can obtain time and time again in specific thicknesses and with a proper finish.

Most of our woods are all coated on both sides with two coats of cab acrylic lacquer.    The Aromatic Cedar is coated on just the front side.  The bamboo is coated on both sides with hand rubbed polyurethane.

Here is a scan of all 12 of these species next to each other so that you can get a common sense comparison of what the woods look like.
